Catherine Savage has been appointed chairwoman of the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, which manages the NZ$30 billion New Zealand Superannuation Fund, with effect from January 1.
She will take over from Gavin Walker. Having chaired the Guardians since 2012, he has resigned to focus on a smaller group of board commitments. He said: “The Fund is performing strongly and is well placed for the future. With a strong board, experienced management team and a proven investment strategy, I feel I am leaving it in good hands.”
Savage has been a Guardians Board member since 2009, and deputy chairwoman since 2012.
