ETFs grow, but could do better

Demand for exchange-traded funds is growing, according to Clearstream in its just-published monthly report. It calculates that the market now has a value of more than EUR 450 billion with over 2,200 products in at least 20 countries, says.

However, the boom is curtailed by settlement and realignment challenges within the fragmented European market, notes Jeffrey Tessler, the chairman of Clearstream and a member of the executive board of Deutsche Börse. Clearstream, it goes without saying, though he does go on to say it, has the answer to this problem.
