SKARBIEC Towarzystwo Funduszy Inwestycyjnych S.A. has announced that on November 23rd 2017 the Skarbiec TFI General Meeting passed a resolution to appoint Ms Iwona Sroka, PhD, as member of the Company’s Supervisory Board. Ms Sroka has been involved in the Polish capital market for more than 20 years. She served as the CEO of the Central Securities Depository of Poland (KDPW) and KDPW_CCP for nearly three terms, and previously as the CEO of KDPW_CLEARPOOL clearing guarantor and a Director at the Warsaw Stock Exchange. She holds a PhD degree in economics and is a lecturer at the University of Warsaw. Now Ms Sroka joins the
Supervisory Board of Skarbiec TFI S.A., one of the leading investment fund management companies in Poland.
Iwona Sroka, PhD, comes with high qualifications and extensive capital market experience. In recent years (2009–2017), as the CEO of the KDPW Group, she was responsible for the implementation of the company’s key development projects, including efforts to adjust the Polish financial market to the requirements of international competition and the EU regulations, a part of the strategy developed by the company’s management board under her oversight and consistently implemented since 2009. As the CEO of the KDPW Group, Ms Sroka introduced a range of systemic changes at the company, which led to the development of a unique and most advanced post- transaction infrastructure in the CEE region, and helped the KDPW Group to launch its services outside Poland,
for clients in the EU markets. In 2014, KDPW_CCP obtained authorisation under the European law to clear transactions in the Polish złoty, and in 2016 the authorisation was extended to include euro-denominated trades.
In 2012, in line with the strategy developed under the direction of Ms Sroka, a trade repository was established at KDPW (KDPW_TR), and was one of the first four such repositories in Europe to have been registered with ESMA (European Securities and Markets Authority). As the CEO of KDPW, Ms Sroka also led the depository’s efforts to develop its activities as a numbering agency; currently KDPW assigns ISIN, CFI, FISN and LEI numbers to financial instruments and entities.
Iwona Sroka was among the initiators of the Capital Market Congress – an annual meeting of capital market theorists and practitioners. The main purpose of the Congress is to disseminate specialist knowledge on the Polish capital market in the academic community. The next Congress will be held on December 6th 2017 at the University of Warsaw.
During her term as the CEO of KDPW and KDPW_CCP, these organisation received many awards for their outstanding achievements and commitment to the development of the Polish financial market, including from: the Polish Chamber of Brokerage Houses (in the category “Institutions cooperating with the Chamber”), Bloomberg Businessweek Polska (the “Luminatus” award for OTC derivative clearing, provision of Numbering Agency services, and operation of the KDPW_TR trade repository), SAP Poland (for innovation), Employers of Poland (“Vector”), and IBM (“COMMON Europe/IBM Innovation Award”). KDPW was also named one of the most innovative companies in Poland by the Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the International Research Network.
Ms Iwona Sroka has received a number of awards, the most important of which are: “Pillar of the Capital Market (Association of Individual Investors)”, “Bulls and Bears" statuette for special contribution to the development of the Polish capital market (the Parkiet Gazeta Giełdy daily), “TOP20 Managers in Crisis” (the WPROST weekly), and Skarbiec Towarzystwo Funduszy Inwestycyjnych S.A. with its registered office at ul.
