British EU exit negative say majority of investors

Three quarters (75 percent) of institutional investors believe the impact of a British exit from the European Union would be negative, including 18 percent who believe it would be extremely so, according to a recent survey undertaken by NN Investment Partners.*

UK Prime Minister David Cameron announced this week that June 2016 has been earmarked as a potential time for the referendum on Brexit to take place.

Valentijn van Nieuwenhuijzen, head of strategy, multi-asset at NN Investment Partners, said:  “A surprisingly high one in five (20 percent) investors believe that a Brexit is likely; although nearly half (48 percent) do not think it is. The rest are undecided. Time will tell, but I have a feeling the markets’ angst over this will rise as we approach June 2016.”
