SS&C Technologies Holdings, a global provider of financial services software and software-enabled services, has appointed Samuel (Sam) D Eckelmann as vice president, strategic software development.

It adds that Eckelmann brings more than 30 years of experience as a software architect and consultant. He has performed numerous engagements for the world’s top financial services firms and service providers including Fidelity, Putnam Investments, and Salomon Smith Barney. He was previously with SS&C, where he was managing director, responsible for directing the ongoing development and maintenance of the CAMRA investment accounting system (note to UK readers: this is not a reference to the long-running campaign for real ale..).

“Sam is a recognised system architect with particular expertise in insurance and asset management,” said Timothy Reilly, senior vice president and general manager, SS&C Institutional Investment Management division. “In this capacity, Sam will leverage his extensive investment accounting expertise in the insurance and asset management industry. His career accomplishments, including leading the development of SS&C’s flagship platform, CAMRA, position him to make a valuable impact.”

Eckelmann is a qualified securities broker and NASD principal and holds an economics degree from Cornell University.

Global clearing house LCH.Clearnet reports that it has appointed Shona Milne and Stephen Compton to its board of directors.  

LCH.Clearnet Group, the global clearing house, says it has appointed Steve Briscoe as the new group head of technology and operations, responsible for the provision of IT and operations across the group’s legal entities.

Eddie Astanin, chairman of the Executive Board of Russia's National Settlement Depository (NSD), has been elected as a candidate for the Board of Directors of the international SWIFT system by Russia financial institutions which are SWIFT members. 

State Street has promoted Alex Lawton to be senior managing director and head of securities finance for State Street Global Markets in Europe, Middle-East & Africa (EMEA). 

CIBC Mellon reports that Samir Pandiri, executive vice president and CEO, Asset Servicing, BNY Mellon, has joined the boards of directors of CIBC Mellon Global Securities Services Company and CIBC Mellon Trust Company. 

Niklaus Santschi, the chief executive officer of the Zurich-based Six Group's payment services division, has decided to leave the post he has held since October 2011; he will go at the end of April.
