BNP Paribas boosts Securities Services management team in APAC

BNP Paribas Securities Services has announced two senior appointments to its management team in Asia Pacific, highlighting the strong momentum of the bank in the region.

Stéphanie Marelle has been appointed as Head of Hong Kong effective from 1 July 2014. She is responsible for client relationships and service delivery for Hong Kong clients in addition to her role as Head of clearing and custody services/corporate trust services in Asia Pacific. She is succeeding Bruno Campenon who has relocated to New York as Head of clearing and custody services/corporate trust services, Americas.

Mrs Marelle has more than two decades' experience in the clearing and custody and trust services industry. She joined the clearing and custody business of JP Morgan in 1993, which was acquired by BNP Paribas in 1995. Since then she has held roles in operations, sales and relationship management and corporate trust services in Paris, London, Frankfurt and Hong Kong. Mrs Marelle was a consultant to the European Central Bank and has an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

David Raccat has been appointed as Head of market and financing services for the Asia Pacific region from 1 September in addition to his current role as Head of global markets. The market and financing services business line offers principal and agency lending, foreign exchange, collateral management and outsourced dealing services as well as a variety of financing solutions to asset owners, asset managers, including alternatives and broker dealers. Mr Raccat is based in Singapore, where the bank sees strong demand from buy-side clients.

Mr Raccat joined BNP Paribas Securities Services in 1996 and was appointed Head of global markets, covering forex, short-term interest rates, equity lending and agency lending, in 2011. A securities lending specialist, he was appointed to the board of the International Securities Lending Association earlier on this year. He graduated from HEC Paris.

Lawrence Au, Head of BNP Securities Services Asia Pacific, said: "I am very pleased to have Stéphanie and David on board as we make additional investment in key resources in Asia Pacific and embark on an exciting phase of our development.

“Stéphanie takes over the leadership of a key location in the region. One of her priorities will be to continue working with our clients as they adapt to the complex and ever changing market landscape.

“David’s appointment comes as we are seeing strong momentum in the region for securities lending and collateral management services. David will be responsible for accelerating the growth of our market and financing services business line in Asia Pacific and continuing to adapt our services to meet the varying, nuanced needs of our clients in the region.”
